Rainy Days in Krabi

After the slightly chilly foggy weather of Northern Thailand, I was really looking forward to the week beach hopping.  Even just wandering around Ao Nang in the evening hours, I could feel the beach calling me, so with dreams of waves and sunshine I went to bed early and made plans to catch my first beach sunrise.

In the wee hours of the morning, I walked to the beach, and took a deep breath, I knew that I would love it here.  Krabi, specifically Ao Nang, is a small beach community, with a pretty stellar night life.

Morning Long Tail Boat Line-Up

There is something about the beach that ignites the small child in me.  I can’t help but drop everything and go charging into the waves.  Burying my feet deep into the sand and feeling the push and pull of the waves, and the warmth of the sun on my face is my idea of heaven.  There is nothing like the feeling of happily floating in the waves adrift, both physically and mentally.

Kayak Adventure

The first day was spent kayaking to a “secret” swimming spot, known only to locals and taking in the sunshine.  The only downside was the trip was cut short by a rainstorm.  Still, I enjoyed the blue on blue and floating in the swimming hole.  Looking up at the blue sky through the branches of the jungle.

In the evening, I went out the explore the night life of Ao Nang with a few of the girls I met at my hostel.  Together we danced the night away and went for a quick late night dip in the ocean before calling it a night.  The rest of my stay in Krabi was spent, pacing the beach or avoiding the torrential downpours that plagued most of my three-day stay.

Reflections on the First Half

My mother asked me how I was feeling, the question makes sense.  I have this tendency for anxiety and being alone so far from home could easily trigger that.  Instead, I feel a sense of calm, and contentment in the choices I am making.  There is a sense of peace in everything I do.   It is hard to feel anxious on vacation, but this adventures has already started something.  I can feel the trickles of change.

Start of an Exciting Night!
